Before Risley Hall laid Risley Manor, to which the foundations date back to the 11th Century. Risley Hall is steeped in history and was home to the Willoughby family who acquired the manor of Risley in 1350. They were the main builders of Risley Hall which dates from the 16th Century. The Willoughby's built the church of All Saints Risley and founded a free school in the village.

The Risley Park Lanx, a Romano-British silver plate, was discovered in the grounds of Risley in 1729. In Victorian times the house prospered under the ownership of a flamboyant entrepreneur Ernest Terah Hooley.

On January 28th 1943 Risley Hall School was formally cerified to operate as an Approved School in premises at Derby Road, Risley, Derbyshire. The School accomadated upto 140 Intermediate boys aged between 13 and 15 Years of age at their date of admission. The training provided at the school included horticulture, building, carpentry, and plumbing.

In 1973 the school became a Community Home with Education under the control of Nottinghamshire County Council. 

Risley Hall is owned by the Crosbie family and was managed by the Oxford Hotels and Inns group until 2012 when Bespoke Hotels group took over. 

The areas  of investigating within this  fantastic location will include the infamous ROOM 12 which is the most haunted room in the building. The staff have reported numerous things that happen in this room including the TV in the room turning on by itself when there is no one in the room. The staff will not enter this room alone and that's during the day. 

Various things have been witnessed and reported like shadow figures, appartitions of a young child have been witnessed by staff and guests alike.  

Participate in this unique night of spooky ghost hunting with the Brookes Paranormal team as we attempt to communicate with the ghostly residents of Risley Hall.


On the night, you will be taking part in numerous Vigils and a variety of Experiments (both Scientific and Traditional). You will also have full use of some of the best Ghost Hunting Equipment used today, and be informed on how Paranormal Investigators use them to try and communicate with the afterlife.
