Your night of ghost hunting with Brookes Paranormal is guaranteed to be a fun, safe and spooky one. Experience this historic location with exclusive access after dark, as you explore the eerie rooms and areas in search for the ghostly spirits that haunt here.

 

Here at Delapré Abbey, you will get to investigate the Medieval Section of the building, including the Nunnery rooms, Cloister, Archivist Oak Room, Housekeeper's Room and Zouche Tate Kitchen, the Victorian Bouverie Rooms, including the Salon, Drawing Room and Library, and the dark, sinister Cellars underneath the Abbey's foundations, where Henry VI was imprisoned following the defeat of the Battle of Northampton in 1460.

 

Our team are friendly, professional, approachable and knowledgeable with paranormal investigating, and we will guide and support you to make sure you get the most out of your investigation. Whether you're a paranormal novice or an experienced investigator, you'll be well-looked after and treated like family. This is an honest ghost hunting experience, so there won't be any fakery or trickery during the night. We believe that if activity happens, it happens for real.

 

On your ghost hunt, you will be split into smaller groups led by your team investigators to give you the best, personal experience possible. You will also get hands on with various pieces of ghost hunting equipment, such as EMF Meters, REM Pods, Spirit Boxes and Detectors, and participate in interesting paranormal experiments such as Victorian Table Tipping, Ouija Boards and the Estes Method.

 

You will also have a couple of breaks throughout the night, where we provide you with unlimited refreshments and snacks to re-energise ready for the next vigil.

The Abbey was founded in 1145 by Cluniac Nuns, who came over from France and lived here for nearly 400 years, up until the Dissolution of the Monasteries. Delapré is also the site of the Battle of Northampton, fought between Yorkists and Lancastrians during the Wars of the Roses in 1460. It was the home of the Tate family for a few centuries, and later home to the Bouverie family during the Victorian period.

Delapré Abbey is the most haunted building in Northampton, given the dark, harsh and bloody history that's happened here.

 

The Abbey's main ghost is the Blue Lady, a former Nun who continues her holy duties and prayers in this building. Often people will see her floating through the Medieval rooms, and some have even witnessed blue lights flickering through the Cloister area. Interestingly on a previous investigation, ghostly footsteps have been heard in this area with blue lights on our REM Pod and EDI+ picking up an energy presence. Was this the Blue Lady?

 

Apparitions of soldiers in 15th Century armour have been spotted inside the building and on the grounds, where rumour has it hundreds of Lancastrian bodies were left buried underneath the parkland. Blood-curdling screams and shouts can be heard in the dead of night from the battlefield, terrifying anyone who steps foot out there.

 

Dark shadow figures run across the corridors and stairs, with disembodied voices and bangs coming from the Bouverie Rooms, and cluttering sounds from the Zouche Tate Kitchen, despite no one being in either of them.

 

In the Cellars, cold spots and the touching of hands are felt down here, with poltergeist activity and growls also reported. Could Henry VI's ghost remain trapped down here?

 

A female energy is also sensed around this location, with many sensitives, psychics and mediums believing that to be the spirit of Mary Bouverie, the woman who loved Delapré and the community so much that she still comes back here in visitation.
